About Ruth

I’m Ruth, a traveler, writer, mother, and cultural observer shaped deeply by the years I lived abroad, especially in Japan.

Travel has never been just about seeing new places for me. It’s been about learning how people live, care for one another, raise children, honor community, and find meaning in everyday routines.

Living and working in Japan changed my life in quiet but lasting ways.
I taught English, built community, and learned how deeply culture can shape habits, from how we move through public spaces, to how we eat, work, rest, and age.

Even years after leaving, those lessons still guide how my family lives today.

Becoming a parent only deepened those lessons.
Japan taught me patience, presence, responsibility, and respect. All values I now carry into how I raise my children and how we move through the world together.

Travel With Ruth exists as a place to share stories, reflections, and guidance for those who want travel to feel meaningful, not rushed, performative, or checklist-driven.

Whether you’re planning a trip to Japan, dreaming of future travels, or simply curious about how other cultures shape daily life, I hope you find something here that stays with you.
